“THE REGIMES OF RELEVANCE” AND THE STATUS OF THE
ROMANIAN LITERARY HISTORIES AFTER 1990
(Abstract)

There is an increasing disagreement between the need to reconsider the Romanian literature canon and the theoretical discourse approached by the post 1990 histories of literature. Most of them, authored by Ion Negoiţescu, Nicolae Manolescu or Mihai Zamfir, favor an autarchic discourse on literature, focused on immanent values and on the autonomy of the aesthetic. For this reason, the canon remains particularly restricted, and it overlaps almost exactly the canon established before 1990. The new problems of literature (from political contextualization to the problem of exiled writers or to the integration of the consumption phenomena) continue to be foreign to the literary histories after 1990. The article tries to innovate the perspective on Romanian historiography by advancing Galin Tihanov’ s concept of „reigmes of relevance”.

Cuvinte-cheie: postcomunism, istoria literaturii române, canon, „regim de relevanţă”, teorie literară.
Keywords: postcommunist era, history of Romanian literature, canon, „regimes of relevance”, literary theory.
